    Blacking out iron sights

I have kept a sharpie in my pistol bag for blacking out sights.

Especially when teaching new gun owners with the white outlines, I make it black with sharpie.

I know many rifle shooters use a carbide lighter to soot their front sight.

Has anyone tried one of the Uber black paints?

Premium matt super-black acrylic paint of exceptional high-quality, coverage, and pigment depth. The world-famous blackest black by Stuart Semple is one of the best black paints on the market. Unmatched results for professional artists and creators. *Note: By adding this product to your cart you confirm that you are not Anish Kapoor...

Wyle E Coyote could draw a tunnel with this stuff.

Just not sure how it would hold up to use.

Is anyone using a similar product?

    From link above

After seven years in the making, it?s here. Black 4.0 is without a doubt the blackest black paint in the known universe. Born out of Stuart Semple?s obsession to share utterly unique art materials that elevate your art, here is a material that has never seen before by the human eye.

When Stuart?s obsession came into contact with Anish Kapoor not letting people have Vantablack it led him down a black hole that has resulted in the release of Black 4.0.

See for yourself. Once you?ve seen this Black you?ll never look back.

Many years ago we kept a carbide light in our box worked great was shooting 1911?s and High Standard Citation at the time, we?d also use a metal 35mm film can put a few pieces of carbide in punch small hole in lid, couple drops of water screw the lid on light the gas coming out blacken sights good to go, but this was done every match or practice.
      That 4.0 looks great.

So in reading more, the uber black paints are a novelty....

They get rapidly destroyed by UV - peel, fade, blister... they cant survive outdoor.... adding a clear coat would defeat the black absorbing property....

Still like the old school carbide lamp blacking.

I will second this product and business. I bought my carbide lamp from Creedmoor Armory (it was Armory, not Sports, back then) in 1985, and it still works.
