Greetings!
We host a monthly NRL22-sanctioned precision rimfire match at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club in Cupertino, right across from the Stevens Creek Reservoir. All shooters must undergo an orientation/safety qualification in order to participate. Please see details below and send a PM if you are interested so we can answer questions and get you qualified.
If you aren't familiar with NRL22, it's effectively PRS-style shooting using 22LR rifles and ammo. You will need a bolt or semiauto rifle with a detachable magazine and a variable power scope, ideally one with a First Focal Plane graduated reticle. See www.nrl22.org for rules and equipment details.
With the high cost of centerfire ammo and gas to get to long range matches, many shooters are turning to NRL22 as a fun and cost-effective way to hone their practical precision rifle skills.
Date/Time
Usually 2nd Monday evening of each month
5:00 - Check-in and sight-in
5:30 - Range setup and safety brief
6:00 - Match begins
8:55 - Match ends
Match Format
We have exclusive use of the rimfire side of the R&P range for our match.
We will run 6-7 stages, 5 are from the monthly NRL22 Course of Fire.
Stages will generally be 10-12 rounds in 120 seconds or less, 25-100yd distances. Plan to bring 80 rounds just to be safe. We do provide a little time to shoot some sighters.
SRGC has been a registered NRL22 club for 4 season. These are sanctioned matches with all scores uploaded to NRL22.
Who can Participate
While we encourage shooters to join NRL22, you don't need to be a member to participate. Also, you don't need to be a SRGC member either.
We support the basic NRL22 sanctioned classes: Open, Base, OG, Ladies, Young Guns. If you are 60+, or have physical limitations, you can participate in the OG class where we make accommodations.
As mentioned above, all shooters must complete a one-time orientation/safety qualification prior to shooting a match.
Match Fees
$20 includes range and match fees. SRGC members pay a discounted rate.
Reservations/Pre-qualification
Match reservations are required. As mentioned, we will need to schedule new shooters for their orientation session. Please PM me and we can get that taken care of.
Thanks for looking!
