    Chabot HighPower Matches (New Program)

Hi Everyone. As some of you know I'm the HighPower Match Director for Chabot's HighPower program. Starting January 2010, the program will change a little. There will no longer be afternoon relays. I have decided to adopt the relays that Richmond uses. Everyone that wants to shoot the match will have to show up in the morning by 8:30. THERE WILL BE 3 RELAYS ONLY With 3 relays we can still acomodate 45 shooters!
    Here's how it will work

Relay 1 shoots, Relay 3 scores

Relay 2 shoots, Relay 1 scores

Relay 3 shoots, Relay 2 scores

This way we can finish the match by 12:45ish. A formal announcement will be posted soon on Chabot's HighPower page(as soon as I can convey this without being as long winded as I was here)

I was hoping to get started this coming year for high power rifle matches. Can you school me alittle on what equipment is allowed or needed. How is the crowd ? Friendly, willing to help out ? Ive had some very good experiences with the carbine and tactical handgun shoots in the past and hope you have a good group of folks in this one as well. Good luck with getting the new changes in effect as ther is always those who hate change.

          200 yd match/sihlouettes ?

          How many rounds?

          $ for Non-members?
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Is this just iron sights (service/match), or can we shoot with magnified scopes. (Sporter Rifles).

HighPower matches are shot with iron or peep match sight only.

                          Bummer.

I was looking at the NRA High Power website, and they mentioned scoped rifles. (Sporters).

My hopes were high...but now they're down south.

I may still take a peek one of these days to check it out.

I've shot in 2 of these matches this year and it has been a lot of fun. I would encourage anyone who is curious about this to give it a try. I had absolutely no experience shooting in a match and everyone there has been very helpful and not any negative attitudes about a newbie showing up to shoot. I shot in the Garand match and also brought my Finnish M27 Mosin Nagant to shoot in the Allies Vs. Axis match and I will definitely be coming back for more!!

Thanks to the OP for putting these matches on!!

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.
