Glock recently started to import 24 rd 9mm magazines. Just curious , do you think Glock specifically made them for action pistol competition ?

Doubtful. Competition isn't the biggest market. Granted, PCC has started to take off and there are models that use Glock mags but the 33 round mag seems a better choice for PCC.
Not sure if that would make a difference in GSSF.
I see many Glocks shooting production which is limited to 10 rounds. There's a mag gauge to contend with for Limited (if you're down to shoot Limited Minor go for it). I wasn't able to find the exact length for these mags.
I think it's more of a general product that some competitors might buy and apply to their competition of choice. One possible example would be Carry Optics (again pending a mag gauge).
The "general market" will likely be the main target audience, in my opinion. Especially the desire to have increased capacity without the need for aftermarket basepads AND keeping the magazine length "reasonable". -
