    at home laser training apps

I was wondering if anyone has tried and has advice for the myriad of dry fire laser systems, like LaserX, Mantis, Laserlyte and similar. I'd rather use my own firearm than a dedicated practice weapon system. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

As I am a Glock shooter - it was easy to use the SiRT with the LASR app.

Obviously, the next evolution of my training is calling the shots, I definitely needed the slide movement. So, got myself the CoolFire Trainer (with a laser) with my OWN Glock and still using the LASR app. Oh, yes, the CFT will work with most common semi-auto out there.

MantisX is NOT laser-based. It has its own use.

Laserlyte sucks - unless you want to rack your slide after every shot. Or, just use a DA pull all the time... Then the build quality? No way... I'd rather go with Laser Ammo.

    Here is my setup: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...6&postcount=17

    Cheers,

I had a Mantis X. Once the novelty wore off, it was useless. At least not anymore useful than dry fire without any of these gadgets. Lasers is the same. You don't need anything more than your pistol to train at home in dry fire. I'm sure many will disagree but show me one top level shooter that uses any of these gadgets in dry fire, that isn't getting paid by them, and I may change my mind.

Maybe, if the gadget makes dry fire more fun for you and therefore, you are more likely to train, then I guess there's that but nothing more.

With this laser, how does it improve your drive fire?

How it improves your dry fire

            Two ways it helped me:

            1) It provides visual feedback on point of impact
            2) If you are slapping the trigger, there is noticeable movement across the target. When properly squeezing, you get a tiny dot.

            Not bad for $35.

            YMMV

it is momentary activation when the pin hit the cartridge, so you know if you move when you pull the trigger.

like this, but using your own gun.

So it requires you to shift your focus to the target right when you break the shot to confirm the hit?

no, it lights up from the laser itself, and the target replays your shots.when you hit the display again (start target).
there are a limited number of leds in the target, so it isn't exact.

How long have you had those?

My 9mm Laserlyte failed in the first few months of ownership... The laser wasn't aligned to POA=POI, the rubber immediately wore off, etc. Plus, felt that the build was kind of flimsy.

Maybe I got a bad one?
