    • International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) Format
    • Novice to Master Shooters Welcome
    • Curriculum Adjusted to the Shooter’s Needs

    Here it is…

For our Seasoned Shooters- IDPA stages, Drills and 5X5 Classifier, we run the stages and drills multiple times to work out the bugs and get a little more proficient and eliminate wasted movement. It’s a couple hundred rounds down range and a full day behind the gun.

For our Novice Shooters- We have a Tac Pistol Instructor that will take you through the basics of IDPA. Safely drawing, engaging targets in tactical priority, proper use of cover, shooting on the move, tactical reload with retention verses slide lock reload, strong and weak hand shooting, and other procedural rules of IDPA.

What’s required… Safe and Reliable Pistol, 3 Magazines/Speed Loaders, Holster, Magazine/Speed Loader Pouch, 150-200 Rounds of blammo and eye and ear protection.

Cost is $80 for the day; we’re limiting clinics to 20 shooters. Further info, clinic mailing list and or registration, please visit trainingbynathanandjeff.com

This is our 6th year and still loving it!

It’s a full day of shooting; please pack a lunch, water and sunscreen.

Just reviewed your post and your website. I was looking for the LOCATION/range you are holding the clinics at and the instructors "BIOS / creds" as professional trainers and didn't find answers to either question.

Gosh, where to begin.... we teach out of a private facility north of Santa Clarita. What feels like forever ago, our home was in Piru at ISI where we competed and ran matches for 15 years or so. We then began the IDPA clinics out there in April of 2013 at the request of the competitive shooters. Mike Thompson sold The Wes Thompson Public range and the rest of the canyon in Piru and we lost our facility as well as our competitions. We were then courted by a private club near Santa Clarita to bring our clinics there. The clinics are usually a full house but the last two months have been smaller clinics. Figured I’d fish a little and see if we can max the clinic in June.

Our background is pretty simple, NRA certified instructors that come from a competitive shooting and or military background. The format was hatched over a dining room table over a few hours and really hasn't changed a whole lot over the years. We’ve had a couple of thousand students and or competitors through the program and it’s been word of mouth advertising since the beginning. You either know about us or You don’t. Last year, I was passing the time in a waiting room while my wife was getting an MRI, the website was created out of boredom while I waited. Haven’t really updated it since but it turned out alright for a whimsical moment or two.

You’re welcome to research my past threads and see how the clinics began as well as the reviews, I’m thinking the last thread was some time in 2017 for the clinics.
Anything else I can help you with?

Thanks for the quick response. So what are your IDPA classifications?

I highly recommend this class if you are looking to get into competition shooting or maybe just trying to get a little better. The things I learned from Nate over the years and at these clinics helped me to not only improve my overall shooting but the all important stage planning as well. Nathan helped me to build the foundation to get where I am today. I may not be a Master but as a half blind, overweight old guy I still manage to kick a little butt!

At ISI, they promoted me to Master at the club level, as far as IDPA, I think, my classifiers have been expert across the line, except for bug and revolver. That’s an easy look up, if you’ve got the inclination.

I ma trying to improve my IDPA performance and am interested in classes geared specifically to that. That said, I always want to know the credentials of the people I am paying to teach me. Are there other instructors? What are the other two instructors classifications.

Between full time and our guest instructors, they range from Sharp Shooter to Master, depends on the clinic. Each clinic has two sides, the first of which covers the fundamental aspects of action shooting and focuses on the mechanics and developing muscle memory. It helps folks fix a lifetime of bad habits and create a few good ones. My side of the clinic s for those individuals that have mastered the fundamental and procedural workings of IDPA and then we attempt to smooth things out and eliminate wasted movement. Not to mention, it’s really good practice to run Stages multiple times to work on the technical side of what works better and more efficient.

I also got my "foundation" from Nate/Jeff's clinic, about 3-months after I fired my first gun. All in all, I think I got to attend 3 sessions as Piru was just quite far, and then, ISI closed making Santa Clarita a farther driver.

                    Regardless, thanks to them!!!
