    Determining size for reduced scale targets?

    I would like to do some dryfire practice at home, but I want to use proper-scale targets. Does anyone know how to determine the right size for a reduced scale target?

    For example, how do I figure what percentage of reduction is needed if a target is set up six feet away, but simulates one set at 15 yards?

    Pretty simple actually.

    If the impact area of your target is 10", and you shoot this at 10 yards, well then by reducing it in half, you would have the same engagement distance at 5 yards as you would at 10.
    So, this would work for whatever you reduce your target down to.

    There may be an easier way to do this then what I suggest, but hopefully you get the idea.

      What target do you want to shoot tho?

      Simple math, 15" @ 15yds = 2" @ 6ft(2yds).

      target_size / 15 * 2 = target_at_6ft

      % to reduce = 13.33%

        15 yards is 45 feet. For the size to be the same at 6 feet as at 45 feet, it would need to be 7.5 times smaller than at 45 feet (15 yards).

        I'm probably wrong, I suck at math, but that's what I'd try to see how it looks/works.
