Was at gopher flats. Thanks dave M and Jerry T for a great first time ever! Hit index was between 2 and 3 I think overall (or whatever that score is). Had a bunch of failure to feed because I ride the slide with my weak hand which normally isn't a problem in 45 was was a problem with my 9.

The guys were very friendly. The squad was great. Lots of fun. Met taran butler too. Nice guy.

Hi Keith! This is Mark. It was also my first USPA match, although it was unbelievably hot, I also had a fun time. What a coincidence I came across your post.

It was hot this weekend. My local club has a rule in place that if the forecasted temp is over 95 degrees all stages will be limited to 24 rounds. Really helps get the match completed before the hottest temps of the day. I was done shooting and breaking down the stage we finished on around 2:30.

Looks like you had a great time! Nice work on that plate rack (one-for-one after that first miss).

And a good call "walking back" before engaging the target. That could have been a 180 violation.

You looked pretty comfortable moving around and it didn't look like you were getting too lost--some people refer to it as the "post-beep adrenaline dump" that results in you forgetting your stage plan.

I suppose one movement-related thing you might explore when you're comfortable is movement with only one hand on the gun. The idea is that if you're covering a longer distance, it might help with speed if you were to safely hold the gun with one hand allowing you to "pump" like you're sprinting.

It looks like you also started the 2nd stage by running to the first position and then drawing your weapon. That's a very safe thing to do when you are starting out. When you put in the time and practice, you will find that it is faster to draw and then run to position. Just make sure that the gun is pointed safely downrange.

Again, play it safe first and build good habits. You're off to a good start.
