    Basic pistol training/marksmanship in Sacramento?

    Hey all,

I grew up with a shotgun when my dad would take me out skeet shooting, did 8 years in the Navy Reserves as a Seabee and trained with all sorts of fun fully automatic rifles, grenade launchers etc., But never did much training with a pistol. I purchased a 9mm Smith and Wesson Chiefs Special a long time ago, trained a little with it, but then life got in the way. Ten or twelve years later, I want to get back into it, but actually kind of nervous so I thought it would be worth it to just take a basic handgun class to get my feet wet again. Would you recommend any basic class over another in the Sacramento area over another? I've seen one at the Sacramento Gun Club and at The Gun Range. What are your thoughts on these two? Or is there another I don't know about that might be better?

Ooo. Lagomarsinos looks very interesting, and it's been very well rated by some members here. Will follow up on this one. Thanks for the solid tip.

I can recommend Gray Ops out at Sac Valley. My wife and I have taken a number of Gordon's classes (pistol, carbine and shotgun) and they've all been top notch. Would recommend anyone looking to learn the fundamentals and beyond, to check out Gray Ops.

X2 for Gordon and Gray Ops.
Great instruction, you will be very comfortable with your hand gun at the end of the course.

I got my father in law a class for a retirement present. He's former Army/Navy. He said he learned a lot in the class and is going to take the carbine class with my wife and I this year.
            Great family fun.

I go to a fair number of LMS Defense classes, and like them (www.lmsdefense.com).

Any time Eagle Defense has a CCW class, they also have 4-5 spots extra for their range part on day 2 called Pistol Skills Refresher. $60 and 100 rounds. It's a basic pistol fundamental class.

LMS, TFTT, Gunlady, One on One, Grey Ops are some of the companies that come to Sac Valley a lot.
