    IDPA SSP Legality question

i tried searching but could not find any concrete answers to my question. anybody know if the haley strategic glock skimmer trigger is legal for SSP class in IDPA? its made from oem parts that are tuned up and there are no visible external modifications to the trigger. according to the rules this should fly but has anybody used one personally in ssp no problem? the reason why im asking is because i was gifted this trigger and want to stay in the SSP class.

never heard anyone tell me they are running that trigger. but went and looked at their website. to me, if there is nothing external then good to go.

many people do something similar themselves, i do know and have seen that, so if i were working equipment check you'd be good to go.
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Agreed, as long as there are no external mods like say, a Zev then you should be GTG.

Nope, Not SSP legal. The trigger is pined and the safety is cut down. You can see it from the outside when installed. It has the same trigger bar as the Edge and it's ESP, CDP and CCP only.

nice! i didn't notice that from what they said/showed. those are changes that would make it not legal for ssp

If this is the trigger, then it would allowed according to the rules.

Edge is ESP only because of pretravel adjustment. Haley has that too.

Please show me in the rule book where it says pretravel is excluded in SSP that would specifically move SSP to ESP because of the modification.

                I'm not finding it.

Well, there is this from their own website-

The over-travel can be adjusted with the hex key provided. Just shoot and enjoy what a precision trigger can do for your game. APPROVED by USPSA and IDPA. For use in USPSA / Limited, Limited 10 and IDPA / ESP, CDP, CCP Divisions.

It's the trigger itself sitting in a different position at rest that makes it fall under "externally visible modifications".

I would argue that this rule...

8.2.1.4.1 Externally visible modifications other than those listed in the Permitted Modifications section.

Is not violated by adhering to these three rules as the work performed retains the factory safeties, is not physically using aftermarket parts (visibly modifed).

8.2.1.3.7 Internal action work may be used to enhance trigger pull as long as safety is maintained (no visible external modifications allowed).
                      8.2.1.3.8 Internal reliability work.
                      8.2.1.3.10 Internal accuracy work.

The pin for relocating the pivot point could be a visible modification?

Just run the Vogel, seems to work well for him.

If you had two Glocks side-by-side, and one had a stock trigger and the other had an Edge trigger with the pre-travel taken out, would you be able to tell which is which by looking?

^^ that's why i initially said legal. if it's made from stock parts, modified or not, and you can't tell from the outside what's been done i guess it's legal.

does it pass the eyeball test sitting in some "technical inspection" guy's hands?

But if the trigger sits noticeably rearward, I'd say that it counts as externally visible.

Also, after looking into it more, the tab for the trigger safety that gets blocked by the frame is different than a stock trigger to allow the trigger safety to still function even if the pre-travel is taken out.
