Interested in getting back to NRA Highpower competitions.

Last time I shot I was still a junior and was using the club's borrowed gear. Shot them with M1 Garands @ RR&GC.

Starting from scratch here, any good forums/webpages for info on gear & guns? I'm thinking of using M1A's FWIW.

Just had a match at Richmond yesterday!Welcome back.Matches at Richmond are the 1st Sat and Sun,3rd Sat and 4th Sat.Watch Richmond newsletter for c&r matches(m1 and mil bolt).I had a conservation yesterday with one of the match directors and we are gauging interest to start M1A/M14 matches.

This coming weekend is a regional at Coalinga,show up,shoot and have a good bbq with everybody afterward.BRing your camping gear to stay at the range.

Moving out of state?Get an AR,easier to shoot accurately,cheaper to operate!

I thought about that, but I was thinking that if I were to pick up hunting I'd like a rifle that can be used for deer (or rather, Pronghorn/Antelope) too.

Then your going to need a detachable scope mount assuming your not using irons,but irons sound like the direction your going.
The M1a/M14 is a tough platform to shoot accurately,but if you can do it,go for it.Practice ,lots of practice is needed,maybe a little more when hunting moving targets.
