Registering for a match via Practiscore

I am trying to register for my first match on Practiscore, I got to a page telling me to "squad". Which should I select? Some squads already have some shooters in it, some don't. Selecting a squad determines the time when I get to shoot, right? This particular match starts on Saturday at 4pm, and ends on Sunday at 5pm. How do I know which squads shoot on afternoon (it's hard for me to get there in the morning)?

I just squad with people I know, and in cases where I know no one i try and do a PM squad because I like to get to the range and watch others shoot stages I might have not had time to walk, check over my rifle if needed, that sort of thing. ALTHOUGH in Texas earlier this year I shot AMSat/PM Sun and it worked pretty good since it rained like all hell Saturday afternoon.

Not sure what these words mean , but I'm not using any flashlights if that's what you're asking about.

I am talking about USPSA match, on Labor Day weekend, at Richmond. According to Practiscore, it does start at 4pm.

I don't know anyone else who's going to shoot there.

Sounds like the match is at Richmond. If so, due to the large number of USPSA shooters, Richmond split their USPSA matches to accommodate the numbers.

They have a match after the stage building on Saturday afternoon for those who help build or don't want to shoot the regular match on Sunday morning.

The regular match is on Sunday at 8:45am and due to the number of shooters can go as late as 5pm. You shoot one day or the other, it is not split across both days.

I believe they start building out the stages at 1:30pm when the action shooting practice ends on Sat. I don't think you have to help build to shoot on Sat but they always appreciate the help and you'll get to meet the other shooters.

Helping build the stages gets you pizza, soda and a free match too
There is usually only 40 slots for the Sat. so figure 10 per Squad when your at Practiscore just look for Sat squads and pick one. Let everyone know your the FNG, I'm sure someone will help you through the match, Be safe, have fun, ask ?'s

Most every Saturday from 9:30a to 1:30p, RR&GC has practice time on the actions range, usually a static line/plates on Bay 3 and an actual USPSA/IDPA type practice stage on Bay 4. You can work from the holster (something you can't do at most ranges) and hone your match skills.

You don't have to be a member and there is a fee (was $10 last time I went).

If you haven't shot an action pistol type match before, you should sign up for the Safe Competitor Handgun class they offer the 2nd Saturday of each month. You'll learn the ins and outs of USPSA/IDPA (safety, range commands, scoring, etc...) to ease your entry into the handgun shooting sports. I believe it's still a requirement if you aren't already a classified/known shooter.
