    Front Sight Practical Rifle questions

I know 95% of attendees to the Front Sight Practical Rifle course use ARs... anyone here take it with a bolt action rifle?

What are the skills test requirements at the end of the course?

I am thinking of attending this fall using a bolt action rifle.

    Thanks

I've seen a couple people take it with bolt guns - these also tend to be the people who are only taking the class as a pre-req for Precision Rifle. I've never understood why Practical Rifle is a pre-req...

100 single thoracic shot in 5s beginning from the high ready - 5 repetitions
50 controlled pair to the thoracic in 3s from the high ready - 2 reps
25 controlled pair from all 3 ready positions in 2.2s
25 single cranial from all 3 readies in 2.5
15 controlled pair from all 3 ready positions in 1.7s
15 single cranial from all 3 readies in 2s
7 failure to stop (cranial untimed) in 1.4s

    30 shots
    15 down is DG
    45 down is G

    2 reps each of Tactical Reload (5s), Emergency Reload (4.5s), Type 1 (1.6s), Type 2 (1.8s), Type 3 (untimed)

Basically, the controlled pairs is the killer - you gotta really know how to work the bolt. I saw 1 guy DG with a bolt gun, this guy was AMAZING!!!

The bolt action shooters get an extra second on the controlled pairs.

How would one do these drills on bolt action rifles without a detachable magazine?

I haven't done it, but this is how it is probably done.

Tac reload - open bolt and load a round in the internal mag.

Emergency reload - see tac reload or single load

              Type 1 - run bolt

Type 2 - tilt rifle and run bolt

Type 3 - tilt rifle, pull back bolt, hold down the next round in the internal mag and close bolt
