    San Diego Basic Defensive Handgun Course recommendations

    Hi guys.....

    Would like a recommendation for a friend who lives in San Diego area (I'm in Burbank).

    Looking for recommendation for a Defensive Handgun Course for him in the San Diego area...I'm a Front Sight member, but that may be a little far for him to travel, and I won't have any available time to accompany him until maybe May or June next year.

    His intention at this time is for home defense. I would like a course that will encompass basic shooting skills, and malfunction clearances.

    I am probably going to recommend a revolver because it's mechanically simple, and no real bad malfunctions with it. But I know that there is the allure with the semi-auto handguns with a capacity of 10 rounds vs. 6-7 rounds (for the revolver).

    So recommendations for a training program and their fees would be much appreciated, and I'll pass the info to my friend.

          I second Aegis Academy. I have taken courses from them in the past few years. Full disclosure, I am developing a purely competition based class for them.
          Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

              The company's website is being revamped and should be more user friendly when the update goes live soon. My Competition Class will be going live next year as well. If you have any questions please email pat@aegisacademy.com and he will answer all your questions.

              We teach pistol, carbine, shotgun, travel and personal security, corporate events and more. The individuals teaching these classes have all taught previously, all have combat deployments and all served in the cool guy/alphabet units.

              For someone starting from zero and wanting a defensive pistol class we can even provide them with a pistol, holster, mag pouches and ammo. Whatever you need, we can make happen.

              Full disclosure: I have taken classes from them in the past that I paid for myself. Currently I am a contractor for them developing and teaching a Competition oriented class.
