    Going to Gunsite in October

Just submitted the application for the October Close Quarter Pistol class at Gunsite. 5 days long, so I should be pretty exhausted by the end. I am really looking forward to this class, because I know that I am not prepared for a real close up attack.

Hopefully the rental car company won't remember me from the damage done last time I was there. They do not like it when you return a car with holes in the door.

Been there twice, but Close Quarter classes are pretty hard to come by. Luckily Gunsite is having one when I am available.

I have also been to Frontsight and Grey Ops, so I do spread out a bit. Best so far has been Gunsite though.

I'd highly recommend taking a look at Defensive Firearms Training with Rudy Waldinger

He's located in Fernley, NV; about 30 minutes east of Reno.

Don't be put off by how inexpensive his courses are...what you pay for 1 day at Gunsite will cover a 3 day course at DFT...Rudy is the real deal

I have been in contact with Rudy and I will be taking his classes at some point. Unfortunately his class schedule does not match up whith when I am in the USA, so I will have to see about future classes.

I love how close he is, and how inexpensive the classes are. If I was home in July, I would be attending his 3 day close quarter class, but with my schedule, I have to take what I can get.

"CQB" is kind of an amorphous term.

I did a 1 day CQB with Louis Awerbuck. It was gun take aways, and retention shooting. Then I did a 2.5 day with Shivworks. Got my *** beat into the ground over the whole course. Got shot with Glock 17Ts, learning some basic BJJ and half the class time was spent sparring against another student. I barely made it out of that class.
They do not give a description of each day, and 5 days seems like a long time. Most of their classes are 4 days with 1000 rounds required. This is 5 days with 1000 rounds required.

I will give a full report when I get back.

If you're open to taking a class during the weekdays, he's pretty accommodating. He'll customize the course to whatever you're interested in learning.

Let me know when you're planning on going and maybe we can make it a group trip

Nope. Got hit by debris from a crashing airplane. Rental company not pleased.

Will definately let you know. Does not have to be Close Quarter. I am usually up for training when I am home and not already committed to something else.
