Sub-sonic .22 only ammo which can be sold

    Here's on for you.
At lunch today friend told me he went to Fresno's Herb Bauer's sporting goods to purchase some .22 ammo. He was told "all we have is sub-sonic .22 ammo available. A new law forbids us to sell high velocity .22 ammo."

I told him to the best of my knowledge that was just plain FUD. Probably a B.S. statement due to 1. being out of high velocity .22 ammo and/or trying to sell the slow moving sub-sonic stuff.

Am I likely correct...or have I missed some legislative foolishness on .22 ammo?

legislative foolishness is the norm in this state so you're right to think something may have been missed…

Since he didn't have what was wanted. He was willing to lie to sell what he had.

I wouldn't ever go there again. I always much rather be told something I don't want to hear. Than be told a lie.

You should have told him that it is also unlawful to not give that ammo to you for free. Make it a war of BS.

Sub sonic 22 ammo kind of makes sense from a California standpoint. Most of it won't cycle an automatic of any type. De facto single shot firearms!

Sacramento will be happy for a while, or at least until they pass legislation dictating that we can only buy muzzle loaders...............

              Then bows and arrows.......

              Then rocks........
My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.

Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

I like subsonic ammo anyways. I only use subsonic ammo for my smallbore rifle matches.

They probably just wanted to have some fun with your friend. Maybe the way he looked or said something.

It is not accepted practice for "good friends" to lie to each other in order to make a sale.

How would he explain having boxes of HV HollowPoints on the shelf next visit? LE Only?

If on the other hand he was just yank'n your wank. That would be acceptable behaviour.
