    Dillon 650 - powder check?

What are you guys doing for powder check when you change calibers? It's annoying to swap the PC system across tool heads every time you change but at $85 a pop, is it worth it to buy one per conversion kit?

do you change calibers often? if so i would suggest getting individual ones. all depends on how valuable your time is to you. save money, or save time. I don't like setup time so i thought it was worth it. rather spend more time reloading instead.

I have powder dies installed in station 3 and set on all of my tool heads. All I have to do is loosen the screw and move it then readjust the rod. Really not difficult once you do,it a couple times.

Ah.... This is the half baked thought that I had, except I didn't realize the die in the powder check system was just a powder die. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't just buy the "powder check die" separately - duh, now I know why.

I think I'm going to give this a try. I need to pay off the SSE buying spree before I can justify spending another $85 per caliber conversion.

            Thanks guys!

I reload about 10 different cartridges, and I agree, buying a powder dispenser for each caliber is expensive. I read a comment on another site that recommended buying a separate charging bar for each caliber, and using all of them in the same dispenser. That makes a lot of sense.

buy the die only and set all your checkers dies at same hight.

I used say 1 inch from tool head to top of die, then move powder checker from head to head and make small adjustments for powder charge.

I have 5-6 tool head and only 1 powder checker just move it as needed.

All my pistol heads have a powder die at station 3. I bought a few extra rod kits and keep some of them set for a specific load. move the alarm around and I'm good to go.

Mine was virtually defective out of the box.
It buzzed so quietly that you couldn't hear it over the computer fans in the room.

I have visually checked since I started reloading.

I bought extra rod kits & powder dies, works great and makes for quick turn around. I have a few extra rods in different sizes if anyone is looking for some.
