    Powder suggestions

I have a Dillion 650 that I have been loading 9mm and 40 cal with no problems. I just started to load .223 and .308 with Varget and it meters terrible. I tried the polishing and the other recommendations but it still meters poorly. Any suggestions on a powder that meters better? I have been looking at..

    Tac, H335, 8208 XBR

    I am shooting..

77 grain SMK out of a 18 inch barrel
175 grain SMK out of a 24 inch barrel

Looking to shoot them out to 600 yards or maybe farther?

Any thoughts on a powder for both? Thanks

TAC meters extremely well, but I only had so-so results compared to Varget in.308. I don't load .223 so I can't comment there.

I don't have issues metering Varget or N140, but that is on an RCBS Chargemaster. I don't load rifle rounds on a progressive as I want maximum accuracy.

You can't go wrong with H335 meters great in my Dillon, and will work with both .223 and .308. I have no experience with Tac or 8208.

You could try IMr4895 and 4320.Be aware that ball powders are not as temp stable as some stick powders.Ball will meter great but when temps fluctuate so will groups.

H335 is excellent and I hear the same about Win748. Although not as fine, Benchmark will work for both calibers.

H335 is great in the Dillon powder dropper, I use it for 55gr plinkers

Varget I load on the chargemaster and single stage with no issues as mentioned above so can't give you a direct comparison.

Skip the idea of metering any of the extruded propellants. Here you will need to use a scale.

              H335 is gold in a 550!

I dispense through a RCBS Chargemaster but the TAC works great in my 223 and metered well when I index.

H335 is more accurate in my 5.56, but I get higher velocities with Tac. It's a toss up really for me... but H335 tends to be cheaper.
Try IMR 8208 XBR in with that 308. Meters much better than Varget. My 308 loves it.

H335 in my 650 has no issues as well.

TAC, CFE 223, 748 if you are doing .223 and .308 from a progressive. You may find that 335 is a little fast for .308 and won't realize the velocities you want. Almost universally, you'll get better and more consistent results with a handloaded stick powder.

                        Another + for H335
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

H335 and tac are both awesome and meter well for 223. If you're loading both 223 and 308 with the same powder, h335 is the way to go, you may also want to consider blc-2, it also works well for both calibers and meters great.

                            Winchester 748 will meter nicely.

The only rifle round that sees my 650 powder drop will be a plinking .223 round. TAC, Varget, and H335 are all ok.

If you're looking for accuracy then individually weighed charges are the way to go.
