Dillon 550 with the case feeder

Anyone have a Dillon 550 with the case feeder?

I recently added the case feeder to press and I'm having an annoying issue. The old platform where you insert the brass at station 1 has a "paper clip" spring that holds the case against the shell plate, keeping it aligned so the primer lines up.

The new platform included with the feeder has no tension spring. So 60% of the time, primers don't line up. It's driving me crazy.

Any ideas?

I have mine bolted down to a stong mount. I added two fender washers between the strong mount and the table so that corner is slightly higher than the others.

It also helps to go slower and smoother to keep the brass from popping out at station 1 on the upstroke.

You probably don't have the cam adjusted properly, or the press is not aligned. Adjust the cam so that the spring loaded plunger does not put more force on the brass than needed, to push it all the way into the shell plate. If you have too much force, the brass can only go so far, but you get bounce back that will allow the brass to come out of the shell plate a bit. The press should probably be close to level as advised above.

There is a method, provided by dillon, for aligning the case feed assembly with the press. It involves an alignment tool and a powder die in the first station of the press.

Also, make sure the priming system is adjusted properly so that the priming cup clears the hole under the shell plate.
