In a big ice chest in the barn. Ice chest regulates the temp very well.

Seems to me if the cans are air tight and the lids are screwed on tight that humidity should not be a problem. I store a small amount in my reloading room and the rest is outside in a insulated storge trailer. But would I not store black powder in my house let alone or in my garage in that amount.Comment

I just throw it all in the closet next to the gas hot water heater.
J/K. I have it stored in a powder magazine in my "gun room"
In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

I've stored smokeless powder in my reloading room in my house for 20+ years with no problems. Some is in the shipping box and some not.
I wouldn't put it in the garage if I didn't have to and I wouldn't store as much as i do now either. Just so it didn't have to be out there that long.

I keep it on a shelf in there original containers with the lids sealed tight out in the garage"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas JeffersonComment

I bought a 20 M.M.ammo can. I store it with a couple of bags of descant air tight, steel, latches on each side you get the picture. i have about 6 lbs of smokeless in 1lb. cans and a little less than 1 lb of black powder and about 1800 primers. I am more concerned about the primers then powder.

What happens in a house or garage fire? Will the ammo can split open letting the gas vent? Or am I worrying about something that isn't dangerous?I bought a 20 M.M.ammo can.
