    Bullet preference

I'm in the market for some .40 & .45 bullets. I'll be buying in bulk but I'm having trouble deciding on x-treme or berry's. Cost is very similar. What do you guys think?

I have used both, no difference in performance. Typically pick up Berry's at the gun show so no shipping. I have not wanted to fight the crowds the past few shows so I ordered xtreme's. I will be going this weekend to the cow palace show to hopefully get some berry's...

I have loaded many hundreds of both, and I think Xtreme is the better bullet. I have problems with Berry's wrinkling unless the cases are widely belled and very lightly crimped. No such issues with Xtreme.

I've loaded both, I think xtreme has a slight advantage with their finished product and packaging. I've never noticed any difference in the performance.

Can buy real jacketed bullets from Precision Delta of a very few $'s more.

For me, it's Bear Creek or Precision Delta for range/practice.

I havent noticed any difference in any pistol bullet for paper punching. Go with whats cheap! Check rocky mountain reloading too.

Xtreme had better prices last time I checked and they work fine. Also take a look at SNS/Bayou/Blue for coated bullets, they run ~$10/1k cheaper than plated.

The cost of precision delta drops dramatically if you order a second thousand. The first thousand 9mm 124gr hollow points is $117. Order 2 and the cost becomes $95/1000. Xtreme is $92.96/1000 for HP and Berry's is $93.45 for RN

I've made good use of Xtreme in 9, .40, and .45 and am very happy with them. They ship quickly and have daily deals on pretty common bullets if you get in on their mailer. Shipping isn't bad, especially if you order multiple boxes, and their boxes are nice and stout.

                            in my experience,

Xtreme plate FMJ RN bullets in 9mm shoots erratically. the soft plating and core are prone to damage and reduce in diameter when loaded. the 124s and 115s don't shoot anything less than 8 or 9" groups at 50 yards out of my Ransom rest with match components & guns. They are good for close range, broad side of barn, plinking blind folded fun.

The problem isn't that you won't get a good tight group, it's that you won't get consistent groups. At times 9mm shots were thrown off by several feet at 50 yards no matter how they're loaded or what gun you shoot.

Xtreme .451" 230FMJ are better.... 6" groups at 50 yards. Not match grade by any stretch of imagination. you'll need to compensate for different point of impact from these plated bullets.

Xtreme hollow points are great. they shot on par with standard JHPs. 4" 10-shot group at 50 yards. But they cost about as much as real JHPs. you might as well buy bulk Zeros.

I used to shoot LaserCast but they got really expensive. Now I shoot Missouri #1 Bullseye 200gr .452". Wax is messy and smokey but shoots around 4" groups out of my P220, Colt Gold Cup at 50 yards sandbagged with 4.7gr of W231 or HP38.

Cheap ain't good and good ain't cheap.

                              I think I paid $138 (shipped) for 2000 Rocky Mountain 115gr and 124gr plated (goof-)mixed
                              (~80% ~115gr, ~5% ~124gr, and ~15% ~118gr).

I really don't have a preference between Berry's, X-Treme, or many others I have tried in the plated variety.
