    Which Reloading Manual?

I'm new to reloading. Which reloading manual(s) should I get and what makes one better than another?

For a person just starting out, pick up a copy of "the ABC's of reloading". You can pick one up off of ebay, pick up the latest edition. It also helps to buy the latest editions of a few different manufacturers reloading manuals.

I bought a whole bunch when I started. If I had to suggest the best one to start with I'd say the Lyman. It's very concise and covers what you need to know very well.

Lyman and Sierra have been good to me. I have some old (50's) Speer manuals that have been helpful in finding data for wierd loads or not-so-popular powders.

Speer, for old-timey Goodness. But it's not a 'How To' manual, if that's what you are after. It's a thorough book of load specs with a bit of history thrown in.

Lyman is the best, but you should have more than one such as the ones mentioned above.

I have the ABC's of Reloading book, the Lee manual that came with my anniversary kit, and I have one of the spiral bound Load Books for each caliber I reload. Those resources, plus the internet, haven't let me down yet!

I have the ABCs book, Speer, Sierra, and the Lyman book. I use my Lyman the most and the Sierra the least, but all are necessary to cross check new potential loads.

                      I reference Lymans the most

and many others. The real deal is in Richard Lee's newest reload book. The guy is a maverick but he has a boatload of good info in his second edition.

Thanks a lot guys! I'm going to start with Lyman's 49th, and go from there.

I started w/ Speer ('cause it came with my RC KIT!!!), from there: Lyman; Barnes; LEE (AWESOME***); new Hornady (A+++ Excellent); Sierra (If I had to choose 1, THIS would be IT); NEW Barnes; NEW Speer; Lapua; Nosler; NEW Nosler - Yes, I have built up QUITE the library over the years!!!!. Oh, and (on the net) AmmoGuide & Quickload are indespensible.....................Wait.......................... .....how long have you had that setup now? You don't have any of these books yet????

My two favorites are Hodgdon's 2008 Annual Manual and Hornady's 7th Edition reloading guide. I also like Lyman's 48th edition (but not the 49th). Along with those I have three other manuals on my reloading bookshelf.

                              Why not the 49th?
                              I haven't seen it yet.
