    Trimming 300 blk

I already got a Harbor Freight mini chop saw to shorten my cases. Now I need to trim them to length.

I have a Hornady LNL AP progressive press, a Dillon RT 1200, and a Rock Chucker single stage.

My understanding is that I can't get the 1200 to work on my LNL because the shavings window will be burried in the press.

So, from what I can tell, my options are buy a Worlds Finest Trimmer, or use my Rock Chucker and buy a Trim Die from here Brads's Warehouse and an extended shell holder.

What do you guys think? Anyone use both methods and/or recommend a better option?

EDIT: I do also have have a Lyman Universal trimmer as well but I'm looking for speed. Thanks

Mentiroso, thanks for the offer. I should point out that I have a Lyman Universal Trimmer as well but I'm looking for a quicker option.

Lyman I think makes a 3 way trimmer head; that with a drill motor to spin it, that would be quick. Chamfer, deburr, and cut to length in one operation.

I chuck a lee trimmer in a drill press, it does great at trimming 300blk and making 9mm mak out of 9mm (I dye the maks blue with dykem to warn other reloaders they're 'wierd').

I use my Giraud but the only draw back is there is not much case to hold on to.

The Dillon 1200 will work. There's a shim bushing to go on the LNL to stop the the die or motor from rotating. Think thats all you need. If you have a case feeder, I'd do that in a heartbeat! Not having to touch EACH AND EVERY DAMN case would be nice.

I chop saw them and then use a CTS in a drill press. Tedious but gets it done.

Remove the powder measure and all dies from the progressive press.
Install the dillon trimmer in station 3.
Install an RCBS lube die in station 1.
Install a 30 caliber lyman M die in station 5.

Run your cases through the press.

I use my 1200 to cut my 5.56 brass...but my understanding is that because the 300 blk case is so short, the trimming window would be buried in the threads of the bushing. therefore, there would be no way to remove the trimmings with a vacuum as I do when trimming my 5.56 brass. Is this not the case?

Put the lock nut on the underside of the press.
If the press is still too tall, get a dillon 650.
I don't own any LNL hornady presses so I don't know how tall the bushings are.
I have no problem forming 300 whisper brass on a 650 with a dillon trimmer though.
