    45acp accurate 5 question

My question is how many have loaded with #5 and how do you like it.

I see starting point is 7.1 gr and the col is 1.237 for a 230rn

I run 7.5 gr AA5 with 230 gr FMJ AT 1.250. One of my favorite powders. My question to you is, where you find No.5? I haven't seen AA5 in over a year.

I got a 8# about year ago really have not loaded much and as far as the dirty I read many places that once you start reaching max load that it was really clean.

It is one of my favorite powders in most of my handgun loads. For 45 ACP I load 8.5 gr under a 230 gr cast round nose. Very accurate.

For my son's HK USP I load a 150 gr LSWC over 10.7 gr of A #5. This is a terrific, and very accurate, 45 ACP +P load.

It's my main 45 ACP powder with 230 gr. jacketed bullets. Work up to these levels. I shoot Win 230 FMJ's with 8.0 grains of AA#5 at an oal at 1.260". Other 230 FMJ's get loaded at 1.250" The Win 230 FMJ has a longer more tapered nose. Hornady 230 XTP's I load 8.1 grains and Remington 230 Golden Sabers at 8.3 grains. I use both RP 2 1/2 and CCI 300 primers and in 45 ACP with AA#5 the RP 2 1/2 primers are a little warmer and produce a little more velocity usually about 30-40 fps. Loads are shot is Colt's and Glock 45's. Reloading data for AA#5 varies somewhat from manual to manual. Your start charge at 7.1 grains is light but ok to start there.
