BLC2 slightly corrosive

I am actually using wc846 pulled military powder and I find it to be corrosive. I froze 3 of my AR-15 adjustable gas blocks solid. I could not turn the adjuster screw. One had to drilled out. JP sent me a new one but its going to happen again. If I put antiseize on the adjuster screws would it blow/burn off or would it stay and prevent lockup again?

The corrosion takes the form of a blue oxidization like oxidized copper. Its on all three brakes and around the gas block.

WC846 is not corrosive.

You're likely getting heavy fouling due to the amount of Calcium Carbonate used in WC846. Olin changed (reduced) the amount of CAco used in 5.56 ammo due to heavy fouling back in the 1960's causing malfunctions in the M-16, the reformulated powder was designated WC844 for use in 5.56 ammo.

WC846 is designated for use in the 7.62 M-80 ball ammo, which is not as affected by the amount of CAco.

Try the anti-seize, that's the kind of situation it was designed for. Check the labels and get the one with highest temp range.

The 100+ Lbs of BLC-(2) that I've burned in the last 35 years has never left any residue or had any corrosion issues, in any gun that I've used it in.

It works in so many cartridges from 223 through the 458 Win Mag that it is one of the first powders that I'll try when I'm building loads. I know that two of my AR15s have only had BLC-(2) shot in them and they've never had any issues.

I've run at least 10 pounds of BLC2 through my AR and never had a single corrosion issue.

Corrosive ammo is caused by mercuric primers, not by the powder composition, depositing salts which attract moisture in the barrel to accelerate rust. Nothing in powder deflagration creates those salts. That's why it's possible to break down surplus ammo and reuse the powder with a non-corrosive primer, because it's the primer that causes ammo to be "corrosive" or not, not the powder, so long as we're talking about nitrocellulose smokeless powder, of course. All bets are off when talking about black powder.

What is your powder load and what weight bullet?

What is your barrel length and type/location of your gas port? (mid length, rifle etc.)

If your chamber pressure is on the low side you will get more combustion byproduct buildup in the gas system.

Are the necks of your cases black from powder residue?

If you use foam bore cleaner it will clean your gas system, muzzle break and bore.
