    Barnes monolithic vs standard

    Question for you all:

I understand that the all copper bullets are longer than lead counterparts, but when factoring distance shooting one (I think) looks at the BC of the bullet, regardless of length.

Now, according to my google-fu, the BC of the Barnes .224 TTSX 62gr = 0.294
Again, google gives up the BC of the 5.56 62gr Green Tip = 0.304

If one loaded a 62gr TTSX to the velocity of Green Tips, is there any reason to think that a BDC reticule based on the XM855 wouldn't be right on within say, 500 yards?

This seems like simply a (fairly complicated) math problem that people have long ago figured out. I'm just trying to confirm the logic behind it.

Even if the math involving velocity and BC was equal, I'm sure there are other physics issues in play given the dimensions of the two bullets and the distribution of weight in a longer bullet. But I ain't no physicist...

You will be quite surprised to how off calculated figures are from real world use. Best just give it a try and see what happens in your rifle.
