Yes you use the .224 bullets. No it does not need the recess for the crimp (cannalure).
Some do not even crimp their rifle rounds. If you do crimp them, I am sure you will be using a taper crimp and not a roll crimp.
You probably have more than you need. But things you might look for.
Case lube (I like spray on)
One of those loading trays to stand up all your cartridges in while you are reloading.
Boxes to put your rounds in.
If you have some calipers handy to measure the oal your life will be easier.

Get what Rustydog recomended. Loading trays are good.

Do you have, and have you read through, a reloading manual? If not, do so before you get started. It'll take a few hours, but it's good knowledge to have.

Powder scale -- does not have to be a fancy expensive one --- dippers are fine but it is nice to check every so often --

i dont crimp the necks are so tight after sizing the bullet stretches the brass and holds pretty darn tight

be carefull with the lee trimmer the cases come loose al the time for me there isnt enough leverage to tighen the caseholder enough

but you dont have to use a drill like i do

win748 powder works fine for me

                  i suggest this

and a scale to set it once it is set it keeps really accurate then just throw the powder in the primed ase anf then seat the bullet

You should be good. All you need is a **** load of bullets and power to play with.

Buy the Manual and take it home , Read it and then you will have it to reference as needed !! I spend a pretty good amount of time at the range and I cant belive how many guns I see that get blown up .
I am not a huge fan of the lee equipment in general but his reloading manual is pretty good . I do use a lee turret press at times .
the Lee hand loader is going to have a hard time feeding a AR , I am not saying it wont work but it going to take alot of time .If you are serious about shooting you will quickly be looking for another press .
