How do you clean it out of the inside of the case?

Trial by fire is a bad idea
I still remember my parents reaction when I tried to put a primer in a pmc case that hadn't been reamed"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas JeffersonComment

yeah your going to have to disable the indexer on your progressive press if possible and just run all your CLEAN brass through your resizer/deprimer then after they're all done trim them all and tumble them. i suppose you can just remove that die and just have an empty spot when you run the rest of the stages on progressive mode.Comment

Actually, you should run them through the press once to size/decap.
Then you can ream/swage primer pockets and trim.
Then you tumble them clean.
Run them through the press again to prime, charge and seat and out comes clean ammo.
That's the best way to load rifle ammo on a progressive press.
I use a separate toolhead just for sizing.
Put a decapping die in the toolhead for loading and it will clear the media out of the flash holes from the 2nd cleaning.Randall Rausch

i would have to agree on the statements above! i bought a lee classic turret press and after loading 1k of 9mm and 500 rounds of .223 i keep asking myself "why the heck im i throwing the lever 4 times for one round!" needless to say im saving up to buy a Dillon progressive press. Oh and don't think your going to be saving money by reloading, you just shoot more

On a lee 1000 progressive, Just remove the rod in the center to make it a single stage press for the deprime and resizing. When you replace it to complete loading, You will have to watch the primer feed. If it misses one you will have to clean powder from the shellplate holder and especially the primer plunger or it will leave strange marks on the primers. Don't forget the corncobb and ammonia free polish for your new tumbler. I use a capfull of nu finish car polish. And Read, Read, Read.... Then read some more. Search the posts here. They are very helpful.
Do you have a caliper to check the OAL(overall length) and crimp? This is a must have item to avoid setback and jams. Not to mention to make sure you're not seating the bullet into the lands.Last edited by diginit; 10-10-2008, 10:13 PM.Comment
