Low velocity Mosin load with 800x?

Anyone have anything? I'd like to use 123 grain hardcast for plinking.

You want a low recoil load for a military bolt rifle, try using universal. I love my cast 140g gas checked 6.5x55 using 13.5g of universal. Clocks right at 1700 fps, and a tack driver out to about 100 yards

I've used 800-X in .308 to shoot anything from 113g cast to 200g cast bullets. 10g will be a very pleasant recoil load. You could work up to 13 grains and still be way under max pressure in 7.62x54R. Quickload predicts 20k psi with 13 grains, but you will be up to 1900 fps in a 30" barrel which might be a little fast for lead bullets unless they are gas checked with good lube.

Just make sure your powder drops are consistent (or just weigh each charge). I have a really tough time dropping 800X accurately from a powder measure.
