To all of the Veterans out there in CalGuns Land, you are greatly appreciated for your service to our Nation. I am personally grateful to all of you from the bottom of my heart and you have my deepest respect. We owe you so much. Y'all don't hear this nearly enough.

If you are Not a Veteran, please make a phone call today to every Veteran you know and express your appreciation for them personally.

I can't tell you how nice it is to come across this post (regardless of which forum it is in). Many veterans, myself included, feel that most Americans are absolutely blind to how great our way of life actually is, in comparison to other places on this planet. I find this to be very true, here in the San Fernando Valley. Most have absolutely no notion of the freedoms we enjoy.
People like the OP, and others who have chimed in, truly make ours a great country that is worth preserving. God Bless.

I don't normally ask for anything from any body, but if you want to thank us veterans then do this:

Take a kid fishing and hunting. Camping is good too.

Take the time to vote, it really means something.

Thank the lord every day for the good in your life and forget the bad. Tell your family and friends that you love them, they can be gone in an instant.

My five year old great granddaughter Violet made this for me at school yesterday her teacher was explaining Veterans Day, she asked her mom if she knew any veterans, she said yes your great grandfather.
Needless to say she made my day.

I'm using my GI Bill to get my flight ratings and the instructor asked last night if there were any veterans in the class. They all applauded me for my service...

I never know what to say, or how to react when people thank me for my service. I wasn't an operator, and I never deployed; most of my time was spent in AFSPC, managing space programs, so I don't really feel like I deserve any accolades. But I did lose some friends, and I had to see them buried, so Veterans day is an uneasy day for me.

Thank you to everyone who served, and I appreciate the gratitude of all the people who said "thank you".

I am most grateful for the benefits of being a veteran. I just used my VA loan to buy a house. I was thanked by everyone who knows that I am a vet.

A fellow Army Guard guy told me once that his dad always said:

"He who stands ready, also serves."

Not everyone gets to deploy, and some not for lack of trying, but if you've heeded the call, stood up and put on a uniform and made ready to "...deploy, engage and destroy the enemies of the United States in close combat..." while preparing to "defend the country against all enemies, foreign and domestic...", but weren't called to do so, then you still served.
