    Old Ammo Question

I was cleaning out jour (SP?) today and found some some 9mm and 22 ammo at the bottom of it. On the 9mm the brass has green on some spots same with some of the .22 I found. Would this ammo still be good do I just need to polish it off or will it be okay to fire as is? I do clean my guns the second I get home but don't want to cause any damage to them or have an issue with the round. I also found some AK mags in there that were starting to rust .

I think part of it has to do with no ventilation where I am at I have no AC and no heater ducts and my place is only 300 sq feet so I am sure the moisture from the shower had a part to play with all this. Any suggestions on how to prevent this.

Gently wipe all the green off with steel wool. If pitted, or corroded, under the green, dispose of it safely. If just green, shoot it.

Store the ammo in those green metal 50 cal military ammo cans. Maybe a bag of disicant (sp) in the can.

I've had the same problem with .22 before. I wiped it all down with a rag and denatured alcohol, it all shot fine. But since there may be corrosion, be especially watchful for a weak charge as there may be a sticker in the barrel.

If you can rub it off with steel wool or a green scotch pad and there is no corrosion underneath, you are GTG.
