    550 Spent Primer Chute™

I got a few of these recently and i am liking them. They keep the primers off of the floor and keep the primer smut out of my 550's so they stay cleaner. The kit comes with 3 feet of tubing, could be a bit longer but it was enough for my set up. Pricey for a peace of plastic but the shipping was conservative.

They are also available for 650's, 1050's and SDB's.

Anyone else tried these? What are your thoughts?

I had a fair number hitting the top of the primer cup as they dropped and subsequently bouncing onto the floor. It took me a few minutes, a short piece of balsa, some sandpaper, and a little glue to create a balsa wedge that attaches to the top of the primer cup but not the blue 550 frame that the cup slides onto. That way, I can still remove the cup from the frame to empty it. Finish it off with a little super glue on the balsa face to prevent wear and you've got a nice little ramp that keeps the primers from hitting the rim of the cup and bouncing away.

A good question. It seams that when the primers bounce all over the place they carry with them some of the extra material left over from primer ignition and deposit it all over my press. Less of this seams to accumulate after installing the Primer Chute. My 550's or my setup may be more likely to trow primers for what ever reason.

Thanks for the DIY fix, 12yak. I ended up getting these before i looked into a DIY solution.

My 550 loves to crap on the floor, but I don't see this product solving that. The primers like to fly sideways off the primer pin and not even end up in the little metal catch that flips open and closed. Keeping the cup empty doesn't seem to make a difference and emptying the cup once in a while is no problem. It would be neat to see a video that might prove this product makes a difference over the stock part.

The 1050 rarely spits out used primers so I certainly wouldn't bother with the version for the 1050.
