Powder Coated bullets

Just finished running over 200 of the powder coated bullets at yesterdays USPSA match at Pala. 125 truncated cone flat points Bayou Bullets (Donnie Miculek, Jerry's brother)

ordered on Wednesday night and the bullets arrived on Saturday(previous) at the front door

1.100" OAL on top of 4 grains of TiteGroup. NO smoke or fumes. I have tried other types of powder coated and these are the best. Some smell like the inside of a welding shop. Now the best part, cleanup. 3 passes with the bore snake, and done! completely spotless, no leading at all. I'm going to sell off my remaning moly coated Bear Creek and start running these bullets all the time. There was even a guy there running these thru his Open gun.

That stuff works great. I tried them awhile ago with good results. .after 500 there was just a small film. That just wiped out with ease. . I also like berry's but they can pricey.

I just received some .45 230gr RN from Bayou. Shipping was very prompt. It would be nice if they offered a cheaper flat rate shipping - I didn't need 2 day Express but that was the only option. $15 to ship 1,000.
Haven't had a chance or fire them yet. Anxious to see how they compare to X-Treme plated.

Berrys makes plated bullets, like Extreme, and in my experince coated are cleaner and with less lead. Plated bullets shear off little flakes going thru rifled barrels. Powder coated is not as good as fully metal copper jackets like Zero or Montana Gold, but the price is alot less. Yes, Bayou charges $15 for 2 day ship, but that's why you buy the 3,500 counts.

I do my own powder coating but still trying to perfect the "cleaning process" of the lead to get better and uniform adhesion of the powder coat material. So far it's been decent. I can shoot softer than normal lead hardness.

I've looked into Bayou bullets before and almost jumped in to purchasing their coating material till I've been convinced to doing it DIY via Cast Boolits forum.

can shoot at higher velocities. Plating usually comes off at a low 1400-1500ish feet per sec but most rifle loads are for 1900+ feet per sec. Which means your stuck using more expensive jackets (vs plating).

for pistols; I'd guess cost but probably wouldn't be interested myself. I'd stick with plating. The cost of plating is pretty low. So the cost diff would be small while the work would be large.

So my understanding is that these are powder coated lead bullets while the other one is copper coated lead. Am I right?
