    Ballistic Meplat Uniformer

Anyone use it, is it worth it? Or any others thoughts pro/con?

I use it and my groups tightened somewhat especially over 300 yards. However the trade off is by snipping off the end you're lowering the BC.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I bought the Sinclair Intl tool a couple years ago. I tried it on 100 rounds, but never really did a 'scientific' test. Tool has been sitting in a drawer ever since.

Uniform, then re-point the bullets to close up any opening created by trimming.

How do I acomplish this amazing feat, When I trimmed a couple of 175 gr HPBT MK. It left a beautiful flat point and the little hole (HPBT)

I don't remember who makes the tool, but Sinclair probably has it.
It rolls the tip closed so that the little hole goes away, slightly improving BC.

+1, $262 delivered for 1 caliber and $40 for each additional caliber sleeve is a bit much.

But I guess when you compete at 1000yd+ competitions, every bit helps and $262 is a small price to pay if it does what it says it does.

ar15barrels, "Uniform, then re-point the bullets to close up any opening created by trimming."
John Whidden knows his stuff!! He is the 2007 & 2008 U.S. Long-Range Champion. The die works as advertised, but is a little "rough". They can be easily made on a lathe. Trimming will decrease the BC, and pointing MAY give a little of it back, BUT there is more.

For some reason, pointing bullets, even untrimmed ones, DRASTICALLY changes the flight characteristics. It does NOT improve the BC, but it makes the bullets group much tighter at long range. I have pulled the targets, and seen the differences!! Sierra's new 155 grainer, will be "pointed" from the factory. We have been shooting the prototypes for much of the summer. The latest iteration, Gen 4, was used in the America's Match in Raton, NM. The bullets were barely off the machine when we got them, and we loaded "mexican match" ammo in Raton, and decisively beat the British and Australian teams.

The pointing simply closes up the tips. You can go too far though. There is a happy spot where enough is enough. So, for ultimate accuracy, meplat trim them, point them, then lightly meplat trim them again. Or, don't...

                            That's it.
I'm making my own pointing die and pointing up un-trimmed bullets.
Should be really easy to convert over a Forester or Redding BR seater into such a device by just making new chamber insert and seating stem with the pointing pocket.
