Scrap Brass Category?

Was curious what the value of my scrap brass was. Found a site that lists the current prices. They list several categories. Anyone know what category brass and primers is in? Here's what they list:

70/30 Brass 2.23$US
80/20 Brass 2.46$US
85/15 Brass 2.62$US
Red Brass 2.22$US
Yellow Brass 2.06$US

Never recycled spent brass, but I suspect that they pay substantially less when the primers are still in them.

It is considered yellow brass. Some recycling centers will not touch them unless the brass is clean and the primers are removed. The cleaner the brass appears the more you will get per pound.

Thanks, never thought cleaning would be an issue. And probably half the weight of my scrap right now is spent primers

Not worth the bother is they won't take primers.

Cartridge brass is usually considered "260 brass" or 70/30. Many recyclers try and shortchange you by classifying it as "dirty brass" or yellow brass. But a good negotiator or really clean brass will usually bring a higher price. Be prepared to "walk" if they won't deal.

Last load I took, I had the primers separated in a very large zip-lock bag-about 6 lbs. I got a better price for them than I did the clean cases......

Down here in sfv. The Russkie in Sun Valley pays $1.50 a pound for brass & primers no problem.
