loading Patched RB (w/ sprue mark)

I just got some .490 RB (casted by Dixie Gun Works) w/ sprue mark (slightly raised, round and flat). How should I position the RB on the patch for consistent bullet flight?

Don't forget that you can change patch thickness, lube, charge etc... until you get exactly what you want. I'm not good at reading patches, but if you have any problems look at the fired patches and post pics.

Me neither. Pure voodoo as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a first-time muzzleloader, and last night I was practicing how-not-to-flinch w/ unloaded rifle(a repro. Pennsylvania rifle) w/ just pan-powder and flint-strike. Now I know why they design the stock in such way (that you have to place your head way back on the butt stock in order to aim) so the flash doesn't go off next to the eye (and I guess whatever blows out of touch hole when main charge goes off)
