Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer, anyone use it?

I was using the Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer for the first time, everything was going fine for about 60 cases with consistent case lengths. I used the hand crank then switched to the power drill adapter. Then suddenly I thought it felt a little strange like maybe the cutting shaft extended further forward, but wasn't sure. When I checked, the cases were suddenly & consistently about .007-.009 shorter. I tried to check if the lock ring could be tightened a little, and it could. I'm not sure if it unlocked some and allowed the adjustment nut to turn slightly (by being pressed into the housing around the shaft) and lengthen the cutting shaft travel, or what. I had added some light lubrication to the shaft beforehand.

I'm brand new to case trimming, but I've done a little reloading before. So I'm not sure if I did something wrong, or the product isn't well made--does anyone else use this device, and does it work well for you?

In the image below the adjustment nut is the longer knurled one on the right hand side, and the lock ring is the shorted knurled nut.

I will have to check mine in the morning. but the way I have mine is the handle will keep the adjustment nuts from moving. I think I have the adapter but have not used it yet.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I looked at mine this morning. I removed the handle and installed the adapter.
most likely the adjusting nuts did move a little. but that's just because it just needed to be seated against the adapter more. I don't use the adjusting nuts in the manner the directions describe, because they will move when the handle is not stopping they from moving. its a design flaw. the adjusting nut adjustment should have been on the other side that does not spin.
I bet it will not move on you anymore.

Thanks for taking a look. I do have a gap between the lock nut and the adapter which is I believe how it was designed to function, as tightening the lock nut moves it away from the handle/adapter... unless you start with the adjustment-lock nut far back. So there is room for it to back out with not enough tightening force or friction. I noticed the manual did say to apply "slight inward pressure"... maybe I was pushing a little to hard.

I tried resetting it yesterday with the lock nut extra tight, then used some thick gun grease, and didn't push too hard, and I knocked out 50 brass with no problems.

I have mine mounted on a 2x4 and clamp it in my vise. Its easier to use when mounted down .

I like this a lot more actually

                + this

Stick it in a drill, grab a nice leather glove to hold the trimmer, and go to town. 2-3x as fast. 1/10 the price
