700x Hornady LNL metering issues? Small loads.

Heard good things bout 700x BUT also heard it's big flakes like Clays.

I load for minor 9mm. I'm doing 2.8 of clays with no problem. Read that 700x may not meter right with light loads. What's been your experience? Don't want to stock up and struggle dropping power.

I bought a bottle of it to try out... loaded up a 3 load ladder from 4-5 grains. Took me a while, definitely not something I would do in a progressive, I had to jiggle the handle on my Lyman powder measure each throw to get the powder to settle in the chamber consistently. Just like unique, it's not really meant to be used as a small charge pistol powder, it really is a shotgun powder. Some say the rcbs lil dandy measure is great for powders like that though. Of course YMMV and I hope it works out for you

I tried 700x in my LnL. It was too inconsistent. I ended up doing 700x in single stage on my Lee and RCBS powder measure. With the RCBS I had to do the tap tap drop tap tap to get consistent drops.

I've done 3.8 for 9mm and 2.8 for 38 special. Meters fine for me in LnL

It meters fine in my Dillon once it settles into the Hopper. Some people use a vibrating motor attached to the Hopper to help facilitate settling. I use a fish tank air pump
