What caliber is this?

Late last year I bought some Berdan primers from someone, and when I went to pick them up, the guy threw in 200-300 brass cases. He told me what caliber they were, and I told him I didn't shoot that caliber. But he insisted so I took them home along with the primers. Now it has been so long I can't remember what caliber they are. Anyone recognize this case?

Not 7.5 Swiss, but I have also come across these at the range while picking up my brass thinking they were my .308. I'd definitely be interested to know what they are, definitely mil surp

Be nice to see the case from the side.
The head stamp tells us that it is military (and NOT NATO), made in 1982 (probably), with primer crimp by stabbing.
May be Swiss, Spanish, or Russian based on T headstamp. Don't know any TT or T4T headstamps.

I thought the gp11 would have an 11 at the top and not a 4, looks similar to the gp11 I've shot though

99% sure that's Swiss GP11 7.5x55 Berdan primed brass but a side shot would sure help. T T is one of several ammo plants the manufactured it, others being T A, D A and D T. 82 would be the year and 4 I believe is the month. The only thing kinda weird is the 2, I've not seen that before in all the hundreds of GP11 I've reloaded. I'll certainly take it off your hands if you don't want it.

I don't shoot that caliber, so if you want it you can have it. I would just ask that you pay for the shipping. There are about 200-300 cases, so they should fit in a medium sized flat rate box. Send me a PM if you want the brass.

After doing a little research and reading Guisan's post on the Swiss Rifle Boards, I've learned the following about the head stamp. The number at the top is the month, the number at the bottom is the year, the letter to the left is the plant that made the case and the letter to the right is the plant that assembled the cartridge. The oddball "2" means, and I quote Guisan: "Well if the primer is extra held in place with three small identations (at 6, 10 and 2 o'clock) the extra 2 means that the case is lacquered at the inside, when there are no identations it means that it has a parallel primer whatever that may mean". It was the only one in the bag of brass he sent me and it's the only one I've ever seen in the many hundreds of cases I've reloaded.

Thanks for the update kkritter. I am so glad that someone could actually use that brass. As I told you in my PM, I was on the verge of throwing those away, but it is so much better to know a fellow Calgunner can use them. I hadn't realized that it was the only one in the bag, because I just reached in and pulled one out to take a picture for this thread. I guess that particular case was just lucky. But they all seemed to be in the same shape and I hope they give you a lot of reloads. Thanks for not only covering the shipping, but throwing in a little extra for my gas and time. That was very generous of you. Enjoy those rounds brother.
