    Lee Pro Auto Disk problems

    Hi

Anyone else here have issues with this wonderful piece of machinery?

I have the turret press and i love it. I can load fairly quickly (more than i shoot) and its never given me problems. However the pro auto disk powder measure SUCKS!

I always have to put some pressure on top of the hopper for it to "return home" however it seems to be getting stuck more and more often. Anyone had this issue?

Ive cleaned it, polished it, ran graphite through it, replaced the spring, made sure the screws are not to tight and the hopper is always atleast half full

Any ideas before i sell this thing and just buy a dillon?

Did you call Lee? They have excellent customer service, and will likely tell you how to fix it, or just replace it for you.

I've had one on my Lee 1000 since 1996 or so, and have loaded 10's of thousands of .45acp without issue. I do find that it tends to leak ball powder when you stack disks for small rifle charges, so I only load pistol on mine.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

Think about what is happening when you push down on the hopper and it all of a sudden "return home".....Look closely at the interface of the disc and the body. This kind of analysis is SOP to the non-druids....

I've been using the Pro Auto Disk for a little over a year with excellent results. I'm not sure what you mean by "return home". It shouldn't be moving if you have it attached correctly, mine doesn't move. Are you talking about the actuator that causes it to move the disk over the drop hole and into the die?

          Hi all

Ok a little more explanation. After the case operates the powder drop. The disk (in my case the micrometer bar) slides to the front of the powder drop body. Then picks up another load of powder.

It is all to common that it will "stick" on it's way to pick up the next load of powder. And it will be an empty charge.

I emailed Lee customer support and they said it is most likely a warped powder drop body or bent tube. And to send it in to them

That part is under pretty healthy spring tension. Have you inspected the return spring for damage/binding yet? Also ensure that the hopper body isn't on backwards. It'll go on both ways, but only one of them is technically correct. Off the top of my head, I believe the square end goes towards the die, and the rounded end furthest from it?

Is that with the round or square hopper? I had a problem with the square hopper design and sent it back to Lee. They sent me back a brand new complete Auto Disk with the round hopper. Haven't had a lick of problems since.

Does it have the same problem with discs?
