Anyone load for AKs?

getting sick of the repeated myth that AKs are not precise.. A good normal AK with stock sights is 2MOA, sight limited. A REALLY GOOD QUALITY AK.. like a Krebs or VEPR with peeps is more than capable of 1MOA shooting.

I've yet to see a subMOA AK, but I've also not seen someone with a quality AK and a proper scope shoot match grade ammo.. we all shoot the CHEAP ARSE STUFF.

I got 2MOA with 7n6. Maybe some batches are better than others.. dunno. Over all my 74 does shoot more precisely than my 74.. still the 74 is no slouch and it's an AMD65 with the crappiest stock in the land and no cheek weld.

If you are buying a century AK or another place who made AKs that should not even be fired due to safety concerns... well if you get 6 MOA you should be happy!

back to a reasonably priced AK round; I was reading [one of?] your powder coating threads but it didn't have updates for awhile. Did you ever get reasonable accuracy from a powder coated bullet?

Update:

Got Serbian brass and some 123gr bullets on the way.
Rcbs dies, and a lee crimp.
After going through the books, found that h-335 is good to go and found some IMR 4227 in stock which is also used for the commie round.
In the mean time I'll figure out which existing shell plate will work best from the ones I already own for the 650. Not really keen on buying that till I decide this excursion is worth it. I do have the lee hand press. Maybe that's more appropriate given the round.

UPDATE

Finally got out the the range today to try out my 762 x 39

Shooting an OPAP

PPU brass, Winchester Large Rifle primer, Hornady 123gr VMAX over IMR 4227
Recipe is for 20gr to 22.0gr with OAL of 2.20

My original quest was would I find tighter groups out of my own ammo compared to steel cased cheap stuff. I assumed yes, but would the rifle make use of the consistent ammo?

So far, the jury is still out. The 20.0 and 20.5 were *****cats but groups were about the same. 21.0gr seemed better but I might have gotten fully warmed up on the ever so wonderful AK trigger group.

Next, I will try 21.5 and 21.9 but I still think this will be on the light side.

IMR4227 may not be the ideal powder for this cartridge.

From recent reading, H-335 seems to be a preferred powder for this round.

See if you can find a pound of IMR4198. I ran 50 rounds through my SKS using this powder and 123gr V Max bullets and it grouped a little better than the Wolf steel cased ammo. You may never get great groups since the AK and SKS were designed for minute of man accuracy. If your reloads function well (no FTF or FTE) and you are staying in the black on your target at 100 yards, you may be able to call it good enough and just enjoy the shooting experience.

How come there is no 7.62x39 boat tail projectiles? I mean If your going to reload at the cost their selling 7.62x39 projectiles they should be at least boat tails.
