Does anyone here have experience with solid brass bullets?

A customer came through my site today and had an accuracy international shirt and Barrett hat so got to talking to him. He offered to sell me some old solid brass bullets that he has laying around. He has 100 projectiles of 225 grain .308 and 55 projectiles of unknown grain .429 diameter unknown weight for .44 mag he says he'll let them go for $90. Does anyone have any experience with brass bullets? Any pros or cons to them? Are there any special steps ti be taken loading them or is it the same as everything else?

Just going by what I know about copper its lighter than lead so a 225 gr 30 cal bullet is going to be very long and tough to stabilize with out a very fast twist.

          Brass or copper?
Brand? Designed to expand or not? If there is a HP in them they should be expanding. If a flat or round nose without a HP the they are most likely solids.
Yes you need to use other data for them(usually) vs a jacketed bullet.
          Photo?
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I was looking at the Woodliegh bullets website this evening and they seem to be getting into the brass bullet business. The page said "data coming soon"

I used the Barnes banded solids (brass) in Africa for follow up shots during a Cape Buffalo hunt and they work fantastic for that. Unfortunately most brass bullets are non expanding so they are illegal in CA to use for hunting big game.
The GS Customs CEB are the exception to that are true expanding (fragmenting) bullets and legal the hunt with in California.

Don't get me started on solids for hunting. California says that I can hunt Elk with a 17 Remington using 20 grain varmint bullets but I can't use a 500 grain .458" diameter solid to shoot a pig with.

I'm currently fine tunning my recipe based in a .416 Rigby using 450 grns. RSNP platform for my next year's African elephant hunt.
