Where do you guys get your [ non-magnetic] 7.62x39 ammo ?

Does anyone know if this Wolf ammo is non-magnetic [ ie non-magnetic bullet, no steel core]?

    Ableammo.com
    Fiocchi 762SOVA $7.89 per 20

    I bought some. Non-magnetic.

Cheaperthandirt.com sells it for about the same price + their high price shipping.

Both of those Wolf cartridges have a bi-metal bullet which is magnetic.

I bought 500 rounds of Fiocchi. It is fine in my AK although not very accurate since the bullet is .308" diameter (should be .310"). I did have consistent problems with short stroking in my DPMS 7.62x39 AR. It is reloadable brass though and has taken 4 reloads so far.

Are you sure about that? I'd call them but they don't seem too sure on the phone and I don't care to drive 40 miles to find out.

I guess it's a lot of work to take a round out of the box and see if it sticks to a magnet.

You would only have to do it once for each ammo type if you took a sheet of paper and wrote down which types ones were magnetic and which ones were not magnetic.
Then when people ask, refer to the sheet of paper...

Not all of it is. Angeles was selling yellow box and then their ROs were trying to confiscate it because it attracted a magnet. The only way to reliably tell is to check it yourself.

Yes, I just called to verify. The Wolf yellow box is non magnetic. It is a copper jacketed bullet in a steel case.

                Their prices are:

                500 rds - 169.99
                1000 rds - 299.99

                good luck.

cannot say for sure here, but maybe it was the steel case that was attracting magnets? seems kind of wierd to confiscate ammo that they sold you.

No. It was the bullets that attracted a magnet. Somehow, they got hold of a batch of "yellow box" that was bi-metal. There was a thread on here about it when it happened and, yes, they TRIED to confinscate it. After they realized their error, I believe they just had their customers stop shooting it and let them put it in their vehicles.

If you can find Yugoslavian boxer primed AK ammo it is lead core copper jacket and really decent ammo.

I think it is corrosive though if that matters to some people.

SOG, Samco Global and Sportman's Guide have the Yugo brass case / copper jacket FMJ on stripper clips.
