Brand new to shotshell reloading and I just scored on this press in excellent condition. The only thing is that it came with the 3" conversion and I am wondering what I need to order to convert back to 2 3/4 ? Im thinking just the resizing support tube. I greatly appreciate your help and any tips you could pass on. I will only be loading slugs and buckshot.

MEC 600 Jr. help

I don't have a 600, I have a 650, which is a turret press. However, I believe that the real difference is the location of the center post in relation to the table.
There should be two bolt holes on the center post below the table, one for 3" and one for the standard 2.75". You will need to relieve the pressure from the main spring (If there is one, there is on the 650.) that is wrapped around the center post in order to move the bolt from one hole to the other and there are a couple of things about adjusting the primer punch and the primer cup. I think that's the only difference other than normal adjusting of the stations to perfect your crimp/fold.
I believe that the resizer still will work fine.
You might wanna visit the MEC (Mayville Engineering) website, there is a lot of information there and they are very phone friendly too.

Many slug and buckshot recipes require roll crimping. You won't be able to do that on a press. You're going to need shot buffer for buckshot. Whatever you do, do NOT deviate from recipes from trusted sources like published reloading manuals. Make sure that you are using the right hulls and wads for your loads.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
