    Opinions - Dillon SS600

I picked up this Dillon today for a song at the Santa Barbara Historic Arms & Blade Show. It was part of an estate sale and I got it for well under half of what a new one costs. For the VC Reloading Club, we already have two of the CH4 Swagers but I though it would be nice to have this available too for students to try out. We are trying to provide variations on different common reloading tools so that we are "platform agnostic" to our students. What do you think about the SS600? Have one, used one? Advantages and disadvantages over other swaging methods? We will be using it with the "rubber band" mod.

I had one that I just sold.

They work great, but it is a time consuming process to swage the primer pockets. If the reloads are marked with a sharpie it will be easy to identify the reloads from the once fired when mixed with range brass. The crimp ring is still visible after swaging but with close inspection one can tell which is which.

I have one and think the CH4D is better.

That's a good price, I think they run $100 ish new and are usually sold here used for &80-$90 from what I have seen. I've used one with the rubber band mod and liked it, it seems like about the fastest way to swage once you get into it other than a swager mounted on a progressive press.

Thanks for the feedback all. CSA, I bought this for just a few more bucks than our CH4s so I thought it would be nice to have for the students to try different methods. Maybe we can eventually get a 1050 so they can try that method too? ;-)
