357SIG SD Ammo.. why so crappy?

Seriously. My "light" target loads push more FPS than the self defense loads which are almost down-loaded to 9mm spec.. Why even bother at that point..

The question is.. to get properly loaded 357 SIG ammo.. where to go? Specifically in self defense loads. I once heard of a non-major brand that was loading the 357 sig properly and their loads chroned at 1500FPS, vs the 1100 and 1200 of most SD sig ammo) using speer gold dots.

Or perhaps the big question.. why have all the major manufacturers downloaded 357SIG into 9mm+P range? 9mm +P+ doesn't even touch 357SIG in a standard loading but with the current offerings your better off with a 9mm (less cost).

I am not recoil sensitive. I enjoy and shoot just fine with 357SIG loads in the 1400FPS range for target shooting.

Not sure where your getting your specs but I know federal and Winchester both have 9mm +p that moves around 1050-1150 and the .357Sig moves around 1350

1050-1150 is a bit slow for a +P.. I'd believe 1150 but you can reach that in a non +P loading in 124 grain.

1033-1050 is a standard 124 grain load in my glock.

1350 is the same load out of my carbine.

my 357 sig target loads on the light side are in the 1350 range. Top loads are in the 1450 range (the recoil is stout). All in 124 grain.

This data is from my chronograph.

      Ahh found the off-brand ammo.. Underwood. They offer 357SIG (non+p) in 1475FPS 124gr XTP. 1550FPS in 115JHP

FPS verified via chrono that also has been shown to be accurate with 9mm loads...

I will be ordering some. Though I am MORE tempted by the 147 grain offerings in 1200FPS.... speed and weight.

I have been seeing this Underwood ammo in various places for sale at what seems to be some decent pricing any info you can give on it?

When I get some and shoot it I can post a report. $$ for $$ it is cheaper than most of the premium brand SD ammo. Packs a punch like Cor-Bon without exceeding specs.

When I get some in I intend to chrono it to verify velocity.

The video reported it as one of the largest and longest permanent wound cavities in a pistol. It didn't over penetrate either which was a nice feature IMO.
