AR Comp and Extreme 55 FMJ - HELP!

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has worked up a decent load for this? I looked on alliance website and figure I can use the speer 55 data but thought i might ask y'all first.

Just use the manual data for 55 FMJ like you suspected.

55gr FMJ load date is pretty interchangeable, just start low and work up. Personally I tend to start low middle and work up to high middle, I don't load max loads. My 55gr FMJ load cruises out there at a leisurely 2700 fps, but it shoots well out to 200 yards (the furthest I've shot them on paper) and Ican bang s a 24in diameter steel plate at 330 yards.
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

I have used AR Comp with the 55 gr projectiles, I used the load data for the Sierra 55 gr HPBT even though I was shooting the Hornady 55 gr FMJ. No issues with the weapon cycling, but I did not get the accuracy I wanted until I went up to a 69 gr bullet. Just remember the loads posted on the Alliant web site are max loads. All in all it is a good powder IMHO, has anyone used it in a AR 10?
I have done so much with so little for so long that now I can do almost anything with nothing at all.

What's your twist rate? I only get about 4 MOA with 55 grain anything with my 1 in 7, but I get 1 MOA with 75 grain hornady match.

a 1 in 9 is ok for 55 grain and good for 62 grain. a 1 in 12 is great for 55 grain and lower.

1:9 twist on my AR, but It likes 69 gr sierra match bullets with AR comp. The H335 shoots 1/2 in MOA @ 100 yards out of the same gun. Note I don't shoot the 69 gr bullets at 100 yards I use them at 300 yards.

Ya i will load according to the specs. I was just hoping that someone had some history that they could share. Its hard to ladder test at the 100 yard range.

I settled on 23.6gr ARComp with that same bullet out of a 20" 1/9 AR barrel. With irons its a 1.5MOA round at 100yd. With optics it's MOA, at best. Tried up to 24.8gr, no difference in accuracy. Now I'm all outta AR Comp and having to resort to Varget (piss poor IMO for light bullets).

                      Ditto.

I have used about 3 rifle powder since Varget became scarce. A $100 Chrono helps too.
