Quickload - is there a cheaper alternative?

I assume there are cheaper alternatives... What say ye?

Not looking for a cheaper alternative, but quikload data is getting outdated.
Is this still the only game in town, or is there a program that is more up to date with some of the newer cartridges, and powders?
IE, looking to load up some heavy 450bushmaster with slower magnum powders.

If you are serious about internal ballistics, it's the only game in town and WELL worth the price of admission.

I'll second that. It is a complex piece of relatively obscure (read not much demand to amortize development costs) software that is not duplicated elsewhere. People pay upwards of $60 for an xBox game, do you really want to jeopardize your face and firearm with a cheap software package? As Randall mentioned, there are periodic data updates available. Like anything involving high pressures, don't assume everything Quickload puts out is perfect, but it will get you a good start and is very useful in comparing different powder burn efficiencies in a specific case.

The unfortunate thing given the price is that there is not an iOS or Android version available (much less a Mac version). The app looks like a Visual Basic implementation from ~10 years ago and it looks like it has not had serious investment since then apart from database updates.

Somebody needs to secure some licensing fees over the key core IP for the app and then port it to mobile, even if the original guy doesn't want to.

I have a notebook at my reloading station as well as my desktop.

Edit: nevermind. Not a deal breaker. Thanks for the info on the updated disk as of 2014. Thought it was up to 2012.

The core of it IS 20 years old.
The technology of the predictions that Quickload does has not changed though so there's really no gain from making it look pretty.
With the new powders, bullets and cartridges added in the updates, it is just as relevant now as when it was first released.
