    270 Win question

    Hey guys

I came upon a hundred rounds older 270 Win, soft tip, head stamped "super x", and R-P (Remington?). They're currently linked together in 10's. I am going to sell them here, but I'm just curious if there's anything special about them? Should I unlink them or leave 'em be? I was going to post them for .75 to .80 a round, is that fair, too much, too little? Thanks for any info.

Similar question, older .308 Nato ammo linked in 4's, head stamped MAL 10-83 (Malaysia). Anything special here? .75 a round?

Is the fact that they're linked anything special?

They came out a can labelled "mixed 7.62 linked, Malaysia"

    Thanks for reading.

The Malaysian is linked in 4s because the 5th round, a tracer was removed. I still have a few ammo cans. I forget if I got them at the old Pomona gun shows sometime in the late 1990s.

The 270 ammo looks like they are reloads. They all have the same nickel plated primer in them. Most Remington factory 270 ammo has brass colored primers in them.

Very good to know FLIGHT762 ... yeah the previous owner was definitely a reloader. I have to figure out that pile of stuff too. Thanks for the info!

That 270 bullet looks rather fat - sure it hasn't been reloaded as 30/06?

I bet the links are for a 30-06. Im not aware of any factory .270win linked ammo.

270 and 6.8mm spc are almost interchangeable but I do believe 6.8 is typical lighter and shorter than 270 win bullets, never have seen a 270 win belt fed gun witch make me wonder what the story is behind these!

                        270 is nominal .277 diam --
                        a 270 case will fit a 30cal link -
as will many other cases based on the 06 case -

As to the original question --the 270 is nothing special, reloaded ammo
                        sell for components --

Good to know, thanks for all the info, super helpful. Next up - attempting to prize these free from the links. Or not... the links have quite a grip on the cartridge rim

No clue why they are linked h.charlie , the previous owner had a semi auto M1919 chambered in .30-06, which explains the links, but not the linking of these 270's.

6.8mm SPC and 270 Win are not even close! Similar projectile diameter, but seriously...

6.8 SPC is nominally 6.8x43mm and 270 Winchester is 6.9x64. They don't even share a parent case.
