    Reloading help

I am currently in the process of gearing up to start reloading for .223, I've been reloading for .308 and .45ACP for some time now.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has a shellholder for .223 that I could borrow for the next few weeks so I can deprime and resize all the spent brass I have laying around while I wait for powder to be available.

I thought I had all the different shellholder sizes, the set from Lee, but I have been unable to find it, I fear I may have thrown it out in my last move.

If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it, really don't want to pay shipping for one item when I can just buy the shellholder the same time as the powder. Just shoot me a PM and I'll give you my address and we can go from there. Thank you everyone.

Bass pro is a 40 min drive from you. They have .223 holders. And they have powder. Was there yesterday.

I may have to make a drive out there then, would you happen to know if they had Ramshot TAC or H322 in stock? Those are the two powders that I've been hearing good things about, going to be going for a MK 262 clone load, 77 gr SMKs.

You heard good things about Tac?Thats not my experience! It may meter well,BUT it is not temp stable...meaning that groups will open up above 75degrees,it cant handle extreme temp changes.
        Keep it simple!

POI may change slightly but the groups shouldn't open up. Develop your load at the temperatures you are likely to encouter and it certainly wont change.
Temp stability is greatly over rated. I'd rather have a ball powder that meters accurately, for accurate charging, than a temp stable powder that meters like rocks, with half grain +/- charge weights from a powder measure.

OP I can't remember what I saw there. I wasn't too interested in what they had because it was $30/lb and they only had rifle powder. Some of it was magnum rifle powder, and some was stuff that you would appreciate for your load. I've used BLC-2 and varget for a similar load, with 75gr hornady BTHP(they have those there too). But you can use quite a few powders for that load. make a list, and take it with you, and ask to see the powder room up stairs. they'll show you what they have and you can check down your list for what will work in the order that you want it. You could be reloading by tonight!

Do you already have powders you can use from your 308 loads for the 223? Many powders are used for both calibers. Check your manuals

I do have a few pounds of Varget but thats for my .308. My goal is to get the highest possible velocities without signs of pressure and keeping accuracy to 1.25 MOA or better out of my 16" BCM BFH midlength rifle and 12.5" BCM standard pistol. The Sierra manual says TAC gets higher velocities than Varget or H322.

Granted the velocities listed in the book are for .223 chambered guns and I have 5.56 chambers so I should be able to get a bit more velocity safely than what is listed in the book.

I would loan you a shell holder but, it would cost more in fuel to get it than it's worth. Just go to Turner's or the reloading store at Angeles and buy one. You might get lucky and find powder at the same time.

Thank you everyone, I saw that the primers that I wanted were in stock so I went ahead and ordered them along with the shellholder and a few other things, figured I was probably going to have to do two hazmat fees anyways.
